China Photography_travel photography_chinese culture_chinese landscapes Wolfram Klein has been living in China since 2010, and has spent much of the time since traveling the country with a camera clutched betwixt his hands. Born in Germany, he first came to China to obtain a business degree, as well as to learn more about this enormous and geographically diverse country. When he's not on the road (or the dirt path!), he makes his home in Shanghai, where he is working on travel related projects and developing new web applications. Here, we share with you the first installment of Wolfram's photos from his travels in China. For more photos from Wolfram, check his website, Life In China. China travel guide Yunnan is among China’s most popular provinces for travelers, owing mostly to the wealth of spectacular landscape and the variety of ethnic minorities and their traditional ways. Out of the numerous great destinations in Yunnan, two of my favorite places I have been to are Yuanyang (Yuányáng, 元阳), around 5 hours south by bus from Kunming, and the smaller historic town of Jianshui. Yuanyang’s main draw are the rice terraces, which are considered to be some of China’s best. Furthermore, the area isn't as developed as many similar places in China, making travel there more relaxing and rewarding than some of the similar, crowded attractions around China. This may not always be the case, though, as I saw the beginning of massive investment into the local tourism industry while I was there. Read on for more.... In winter, Yuanyang offers a particularly rewarding experience as the water-filled terraced fields spectacularly reflect the sun. Half way back to Kunming, Jianshui, with its numerous temples and historical gates, adds a welcome touch of culture to this spectacularly scenic region.
