On your marks, get set, chug!
Beerfest in Shanghai? Not talking the better known Qingdao Beer Festival? Nope, at long last, those of us looking for a giant party with no purpose other than drinking copious amounts of brew have more than one city to descend upon.
Yes, it's true. From July 3rd to August 29th, the Beijing, Chengdu and Shenzhen will be inviting suds fans to nightly beer blasts sponsored by five local and international beer brands, as well as a host of international performances including Brazilian Carnaval parades and more.
You can see the event homepage here. It's all in Chinese, so we've done posted a quick g-translation of the beerfest page below for easy reference, along with the activity and performance schedule pages below. Click on them to go through to the full translated pages.
Shanghai's Happy Valley is located about 40 kilometers southwest of the city in Songjiang's Sheshan National Tourism Park. It's fairly easy to reach using the subway. Take Line 9 to Sheshan Station, exit the station and cross the street to the Happy Valley interchange where Happy Valley shuttles await to ferry you to the park entrance.
To get to Beijing's Happy Valley take one of several bus lines--740,840,752,657,29,743,753 or 801--and getting off at one of the following stops: Hongyan Bridge, Purple Southern House, Shuanglong Supermarket or Polytechnic University East Station then be prepared to walk or take a cab. Easier still would be to tell your cab driver to bring you to Beijing Huanlegu (and if you're at a hotel, ask your concierge; shuttle buses may be available).
Shenzhen's is more easily accessible. Take Metro Line 1 to Window of the World Station, the park is right there in front of Exit 1A. Cheers!
Finally, Chengdu's Happy Valley theme park is off a stop on the route of buses 48 108 337 101 339 93 88 95 362 365 526 and 119. The less adventurous way, of course, is to take a cab to Chengdu Huanlegu or, again, check with your hotel's concierge.
