Although there is not a large selection of hostels or hotels in Dunhuang, there are several nice Chinese and Western options in the city as well as plenty of budget accommodations to choose from. Most Dunhuang accommodation is located downtown and no more than a few minutes walk to the Dunhuang Night Market (Dūnhuáng Yèshì, 敦煌夜市), home to the city's best restaurants and food stands. The Chinese style Dunhuang Silk Road Hotel has spacious rooms with traditional Ming Dynasty décor and wooden shower buckets. This hotel is moderately inexpensive, arranges great tours and is within walking distance of the Crescent Moon Lake. Also located in the heart of downtown is the Mogao Hotel with inexpensive, clean and comfortable rooms.
