So hot right now, Ctrip English.
With the launch of the new Ctrip English as well as our new flight plus hotel packages, not only do you get to save more money booking all of your travel in China and beyond, but you will look stunning doing it. Fear not, this isn’t just a facelift. What you see now is the first installment of a series of changes we’re making to our site over the next few months. Over the next few weeks you’ll see the expansion of our international flights coverage, flight plus hotel package network, and a host of other back end and front end improvements.
Why the new look?
When we took over the English department in 2007, we knew we wanted to create our own site with its own personality. The first step came in the re-launch of the site in March, 2008, which saw Ctrip English deviate a bit from our big brother, Ctrip.com. Though we were satisfied with the look, we still wanted something a bit more crisp, clean, and simple. And so our lead designer, Brice, headed off into the wilds of the Shanghai on a vision quest. Returning with tales grand and unfathomable, he also brought with him the design that would turn out to be the first step towards our site's transformation. After internal discussions and review sessions, we decided on the base design that you see today on the homepage and packages pages, and it will gradually be deployed across the site. We see this as the next step to carving out our own brand identity while we do some major overhauls on our back end.
What else is new?
Though there was an open bounty on my head in the IT department, we managed to load the pipeline with all sorts of user experience improvements designed to make your booking easier, quicker, and even cheaper than ever! In addition to our new flight plus hotel packages, which were designed to pass some pretty massive savings on to you when booking both products together, we’ve got ever-expanding international flights and international hotels coverage, new multi-currency support, new payment options, smoother booking flows, and a few other gems which will manifest in the next few months. 2011 will be our biggest year yet in terms of new functionality and value-added services!
