Here is Michaela, one of our newest interns, as she prepares to share with all of you avid readers her experience in China.... >>>
In the past four weeks, I’ve eaten every meal with chopsticks, tried bubble tea for the first time (and became addicted), bargained for clothes, and used squat toilets. I’ve also walked along The Bund and seen the Oriental Pearl Tower up close.
My name is Michaela Kron, and if you couldn’t already tell, I’m in Shanghai. So who am I, and what am I doing writing this? I’m a senior at New York University, and I’m studying abroad at East China Normal University this semester. I’m also interning for ChinaTravel.net, where I’ll be blogging and working on social media projects.
I never really thought much of the old adage that says “you learn something new every day.” Until now. Since arriving in Shanghai, I haven’t gone a day without learning—learning about the language, the culture, the food, the people, the government, and so on. This is a place where East meets West, where contemporary meets traditional, where present meets future, and I’m intrigued by it all. For the next three months, I look forward to exploring Shanghai, as well as other parts of China, and sharing my experiences and adventures with you. Feel free to follow me here, on the China Travel Blog, and on Facebook!
