Here's Ian and his plan to make Ctrip bigger, better, and more exciting for you.... >>>
Hey there! Ian here. I’d like to refrain from giving you my full name as the unfortunate combination of Chinese and Filipino surnames makes it hard for me to introduce myself properly without eliciting a stifled guffaw from at least one of you, dear readers (Editor's note: His name is Ian Robin Go Commandao). Anyway, I’m the newest recruit for Ctrip’s English Marketing Department and will be sharing my own Ctrip & China story with all of you right here on the Ctripper.
Almost immediately after finishing uni in Manila, I decided to go on my first-ever international trip and bought a ticket for Beijing. That was way back in 2002, and what was supposed to be a short stint in China has turned into an exhilarating, life forming experience.
Since moving to China, I’ve been fortunate enough to travel and experience the contrasting cultures of over 20 countries, including White Nights in Russia, Ramadan in Pakistan, Paris in Spring. But while I love exploring the many other wonders that the world has to offer, for some reason yet unknown, I always get drawn back to China.
The challenges presented in this fast changing society are enormous, but thankfully, so are the opportunities. My newest challenge is to build upon the already solid platform that is Ctrip English, and fine-tune its online marketing mix to grow the brand, improve awareness and make it the preferred travel portal for English speaking users in China and beyond.
Enjoy the ride!
