Moganshan Monk Mogan Shan's cool, bamboo forested slopes have been a popular getaway for wealthy Chinese and foreigners looking to escape the fierce summer sun ever since the early 19th century. Today it remains a favorite spot for visitors from nearby Hangzhou (60 km) and Shanghai (124 km) in search of some much-needed fresh air away from the big city. Dotted with guesthouses, villas and hotels, there are plenty of places to Moganshan Lodge, a great place to stop and enjoy and beer and bite to eat on the expansive terrace or curl up by the fire with a book in the evening.
