2010 Shanghai Expo, Jonah Kessel , China Pavilion This superb Expo photo comes courtesy of China Daily Creative Director Jonah Kessel. We came across his blog Nomadically Curious Visual Thoughts the other day when writing about the destruction of Beijing's hutongs to make way for new developments. Originally used as a cover shot for Expo dedicated magazine Exposure (see more on that here), the image is also included in this great photo essay showing the dichotomy of modern China. He tells us:
I took it two or three days before the Expo opened and I thought: "well, this is probably the only time you will ever see the China Pavilion with only one person at it for the rest of time." The worker really is just trumped by the enormous structure. It kind of represented the massive nature of Shanghai's Expo.
