This is about a million miles away from my Shanghai commute each morning, which involves taxis and traffic jams followed by the metro and people jams! Making her way through the steep rice terraces, this Miao woman is unlikely to meet much in the way of other traffic except for the occasional villager or perhaps a tourist out for an early morning ramble.
(More about the photographer and the photo contest after the jump... )Nicholas Yu is a passionate travel photographer and is just one of many who have shared their fantastic images of travel in China with us and the world in the Ctrip China Travel Photo Contest (check out more of his work on Flickr or on his website).
Submissions are now closed and this week we're busy sorting through the incredible 5,678 entries received to pick out the very best to go through to the public vote--be sure to check in to our vote page next Monday 28 February to see if you've made it to the next round, to cast your vote and for the chance to win a free annual Freedur VPN!
Public voting will take place on the contest vote page from 28 February to 14 March. With one vote per day throughout this two week period, be sure to vote early and often! Vote for the same photo each time, or, if you can’t make up your mind, spread the love. The decision is yours—but be sure to use your votes wisely! The top 10 vote-getters will then go on to face our professional travel photographer judges, Jonah Kessel, Tom Carter and Luca Locatelli, who will make the final call.
