harbin ice festival Brightly lit, colorful, extravagant and very, very cold, the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival is the main event on China's winter calendar. Although it doesn't officially kick off 'til January 5th, there's plenty to see in the run up, including the sculptures themselves (such architectural wonders do not get built overnight!) plus various exhibitions and events. For more on the festival itself head to our December China Festival roundup and if that's not enough to tempt you up to the frozen north, check out more great photos of the Harbin Ice and Snow Festival.
