cny fireworks gadgetdan It's not often you imagine a rabbit chasing a tiger out the door but that's exactly what's happening tonight as we head into the new lunar year and the Year of the Rabbit. Fireworks are a big part of the Spring Festival celebrations here in China as people ward off evil spirits and misfortune. You'll see (and hear) plenty of them in every size, shape and form over the next week, and expect to wake up tomorrow (if you can get any sleep at all that is!) to a pavement littered with red paper debris. The strict safety guidelines that go hand-in-hand with this kind of fire power elsewhere are virtually non-existent so be careful and enjoy the show! (More after the jump... ) This great shot comes from Beijing-based Swedish photographer gadgetdan on Flickr and was taken during last year's Year of the Tiger celebrations. The photo is an entry to the Ctrip China Travel Photo Contest and you can see more of his great images of China and beyond at his gadgetdan Flickr photostream.
