CNY fruits yangshuo 2 Just like Christmas, giving and receiving gifts is all part of the fun of Chinese New Year. Traditionally the older generation give the younger red envelopes or "hong bao" filled with cash, but between families and friends smaller gifts are exchanged such as fruits, candy, biscuits or sweets. (More on this pic after the jump... ) This photo is from back in 2006 when traveling to Yangshuo in Guanxi. Just days before Spring Festival, the streets were lined with towers of colorful boxes filled with fruit just waiting to become someone's best wishes for the year to come.
