If you're heading to Beijing for the Olympics or find yourself there for business or leisure with your family but aren't sure where to go or what to do, don't worry, ChinaTravel.net has got you covered.  Below are ten suggestions for things you can do as a family in and around Beijing. Enjoy!
  • Shidu is a scenic stretch of the Juma River southwest of Beijing, it's pretty touristy but if you like beach volley ball, bungee jumping, rock climbing, hiking, swimming and boating, then it's worth the visit. Great for (tiring out) the kids.
  • Jade Palace Hotel Bowling Center is home of some nice bowling lanes in a classy hotel–and it's, cheap too!
  • Chaoyang Park is central and there's a science center, bungee jumping and the opportunity to join impromptu pickup games of five-a-side soccer (football).
  • The Caribbean Lagoon Waterpark was designed by the same company that designed Disney Water Adventures in the U.S. Water-sliding fun for the whole family!
  • The Beijing Sailing Center has dinghy sailboats for hire, courses for all abilities and ages, a kids' summer camp and group packages. Open May-October.
  • The Parkour Club is better for older kids (and younger-at-heart parents), this is an "Urban Obstacle Course" activity that treats the city like one giant playground.
  • The Fixed Gear Bike Club is a no-fee cycling club with regular leisure rides around the city. All are free to join!
  • Beijing Crab Island Green Ecological Resort features home-grown organic food, beaches, hot springs, a wave pool, cuddly farm animals and fishing.
  • The Golden Dancing Academy offers a broad range of classes taught by Chinese and foreign trained professionals for kids and adults. The academy teaches international sport dancing, salsa, meringue, tango, ballet, swing and more.
  • The Beijing Zoo and Aquarium. The zoo may not the best in the world, but if you really want to see a panda, this is the place! And the newer aquarium is first class.
Enjoy your time in Beijing, folks!
